My Favorite EHS Organization

        My favorite Elkins organization that I have been a part of is band. I truly think that band shaped my high school experience because it pushed me to be hardworking and gave me true friendships. When I first arrived at Elkins, I had few friends because and I felt very lonely. I remember walking into May marching camp my freshman year and knew absolutely no one because my only friend was quitting. I remember the community being so friendly and welcoming to me. After the camp was over we were eating pizza and I was scared and stressed not knowing who I was going to sit with. I remember this upperclassman coming up to me and introducing me to some girls in my grade. Little did I know that I would become good friends with these girls and make so many memories with them. My favorite memory from band was from my sophomore year when we went to Austin for a competition because this was my first real experience with the band which made me realize that I actually loved the community. When the trip information came out I remember being stressed about who I was going to room with but it ended up working out because the group of girls I had met back in May had asked me to room with them. I felt so happy that they had asked me and was excited about the trip. I remember this trip being fun because I had the most friends that year, and I made many memories. There are times now that I do not enjoy band but then I remember moments like this where I loved band. I love the program for teaching me valuable life lessons and for not letting me give up.
