Currently the phrase "Roman empire" is circling social media, specifically TikTok. "Roman Empire" is a new phrase used to explain something that you think about often or something you will always remember. For example, many people's first love is their Roman empire because it's someone they think about occasionally and will always remember. However, my Roman Empire is my friend group. We became friends only a year ago but the three of us are practically inseparable. Our trio nickname "KMS" is infamous and is now part of my daily vocabulary, but not because of the traditional meaning. We refer to KMS because our names start with the three letters and we have turned this group name into our signature and an inside joke. Although KMS is not really an inside joke anymore considering many people know about it and it is posted everywhere such as our hilarious group chat and our iconic joint TikTok account where we post just about anything because our mindset is that if we are doing something together then nothing is embarrassing because yolo.
When I am feeling sad or lonely I always know that I can rely on kms to bring me up and make me smile. My favorite thing about kms is that when we are together it is never boring, we are always laughing, and when you bring the three of us together suddenly everything is funny. Ironically, we also live less than 3 minutes apart, so we hang out almost every day. We always find ways to hang out whether it's getting food after school, going to each other's houses, or going to the gym together, we like to spend time together because laughter is medicine and there are hardly ever moments where we aren't laughing. I am extremely grateful for all the amazing memories I have made with KMS including going to the SZA concert, Galveston, sitting together at lunch daily, and our weekly late-night Drake and drives that we all live for. We are all very similar and different simultaneously, which is why our trio works so well.
Sadly, both K and S are juniors so when I leave for college I will be leaving the people that make me the happiest. I will miss them a lot but I know I can always visit and they can visit me and we can make even more memories in new places. I hope we are friends forever and that these are the people that are my bridesmaids and the people that I watch my children grow up with while we get old together. KMS was a blessing in disguise that entered my life unexpectedly but has made this year the best year of my entire life.
