Having a supportive group of friends in high school is very important and we both agree that having people to rely on can help in stressful times. The importance of having good, real friends is shown to be helpful both in and out of school. Finding the right people that you can connect with, whether its a large friend group, or a small group of friends, can help especially in teenage years where we are growing and learning to be more social.
Morgan:
Speaking from experience, I have had a much better experience in school since I made more friends. Having people to look forward to seeing helps me get through the day. Especially having friends in the same grade because as a senior, when I go to college, it helps to have people I already know and are close with. I have been through multiple groups of friends and different types of personalities within the groups. As I have grown, I realize that the smaller the group, the more real the bonds. When I was in a bigger friend group I felt more trapped and like I was forced to stay in it rather than breaking off and making new friends. I didn't like the feeling of procrastinating or making up lies just to not have to hangout with the people I was supposed to consider my friends and enjoy being around. Since then I have made new friends, especially out of school, that are more similar to me and I actually enjoy hanging out with. Constantly trying to make plans just to see each other is a nice feeling of relief after feeling constrained in past relationships. This highlights the importance of having strong friendships especially in years where we are learning to be ourselves and need constant support.
Jennifer:
Growing up, I always admired building connections and making supportive friends around me. I believe the friends around me have impacted my personal and emotional growth throughout my time at school. Knowing that I have a support pillar behind me has had a huge contribution in reducing the amount of stress and anxiety. I can feel peace in mind knowing that in any situation that I can rely on my friends and vice versa. Moreover, during times of difficulty I am able to use them as a source of comfort. My friends have also been a great influence in my emotional well-being. I think the social and physical connection has led to great amounts of happiness. There is something special about sharing that laughter and joy with my friends that I cannot do with other individuals. My relationships with my friends have created everlasting memories that will be everlasting. Additionally, the friendships I have made have given me a sense of belonging that improves my overall well-being. I think the time an effort I have put into my relationships will result in a network of connections.
We can both agree that having strong friendships has greatly impacted our lives and our experience as teenagers. We both have made so many memories and learned lessons that we will remember forever.
