A chilling case that has happened recently that is still unsolved to this day is the University of Idaho murder case. On November 13th, 2022, 4 in Moscow, Idaho, four Idaho University students were brutally stabbed to death by Brian Kohberger. This case circled the media for weeks because it took officials 7 weeks to suspect Kohberger and this case worried many in the area with the idea of a killer on the loose. Although it is not confirmed that Kohberger was the murderer, his phone was tracked from his apartment to the murder scene and back. The murders took place around 4 am and were executed in roughly 17 minutes. It is said that Kohberger broke into the college students' shared apartment through a glass sliding door and was armed with a knife. There were two roommates that survived and helped give background info on the case. They informed the police that she saw a thin, tall, athletic man with brown bushy hair leaving her roommate's bedroom after hearing screams. There was also a bloody shoe print left behind that left evidence as well as DNA from the knife sheath that held the knife he used to murder these innocent students.
This case is enticing because Brian Kohberger has pleaded not guilty on many occasions but was still charged with 4 cases of first-degree murder. Additionally, this case was completely random, officials are still trying to determine the motives behind this killing and if there are any connections between Kohberger and the students. Luckily, his DNA was found on a knife sheath left at the crime scene to help identify him as guilty but no weapon has been found. He has yet to have a court trial considering this case happened only a little over a year ago and has been postponed many times. Meanwhile, Kohberger is being held at the Latah County Jail without bail. As for the families of the students, they believe justice should be served and that a trial needs to occur to give him the punishment he deserves.
